What printing methods does Walle use?
Walle utilizes the two most popular methods of graphics reproduction - lithographic and flexographic printing - for the label products we offer.

Sheet-fed offset lithographic printing is a printing process wherein the image area on the plates are neither raised nor indented. The plates undergo chemical treatments that render the image area receptive to ink. The non-image area becomes receptive to water and resistant to ink. Offset lithography is an excellent method for reproducing details, photographs and high line screens.

Flexography is essentially a direct rotary printing using flexible, raised image plates and rapid drying fluid inks. The presses are multi-color and web-fed for printing a continuous roll of substrate. Ink is applied to the flexible plate by a ceramic anilox roller consisting of etched cells that hold ink and transfer it to the plate for printing. The latest advancements in computer-to-plate and anilox roller technologies allow flexographic reproduction quality to rival that of offset lithography.

Walle continues to invest in the most modern pre-press, press and post-press equipment available. We have the capabilities to print up to eight (8) colors lithographically and ten (10) colors flexographically.

How long has Walle been in business?
Walle Corporation was founded in 1872 when it began operation as a local printing company in New Orleans, Louisiana. Early in its 130 year plus history, Walle served the unique needs of the label printing marketplace, producing labels for regionally produced foods, coffees, and vegetables.

Over twenty five years ago, the Keeney family, led by its patriarch, Cecil M. Keeney, purchased Walle Corporation. Under his leadership, Walle grew into one of the nation’s leading label suppliers. Today, a third generation of the Keeney family leads Walle Corporation continuing the family’s legacy and upholding its commitment to quality, innovation and service to its customers.

How can we get our labels to pop off the shelf?
Walle has several options for you to consider depending on your objectives and constraints.

If you are evaluating an existing product and package, a graphics redesign utilizing more colors (like 8 or 10), vibrant inks (like pearlescents/fluorescents), eye catching coatings (like UV and matte), and photographic vignettes can make a positive impact to your finished label appearance.

However if you desire more profound, head turning impact coupled with your new product launch or new product packaging, you may consider one of our newest label products for maximum shelf appeal like:

WalleSyn Pro Clear™ – our clear cut & stack film labels for product show through
WalleSyn Pro Metal™ – our cut & stack film labels with a metalized appearance
EcoFlex™ – our full body shrink sleeve labels

Whatever your objectives are, let our team of label experts assist you in identifying your multitude of options and the best label solution for you.

How can we keep our labels from falling apart in ice baths?
Several beverage products today are marketed or stored in ice baths at convenience stores. Though wet strength paper labels are commonly used, these labels do not usually hold up when fully submerged in a ice bath over time. Paper labels, even with wet strength properties, will eventually tear, scuff and fall apart.

Walle has a unique patented label product that we developed that is perfect for the harshest wet conditions - WalleSyn Pro™. These labels are plastic film laminated so they are 100% moisture proof and 100% scuff proof. And since they are finished in a cut & stack form like your paper labels, you are able to drop them in place of your paper labels with no additional equipment cost.

Can Walle deliver labels in less than 4 weeks?
Walle prides itself in providing our customers with a high level of responsiveness. We know that running out of labels and disrupting your production schedule is not an option for you.

While the standard industry lead time is four weeks, we typically provide turnaround in far less time. With most repeat customer orders, we provide a 2 week turnaround and operate with sufficient capacity to meet this goal.

For Combination Run labels, Walle has a weekly combination run order calendar to coordinate our print runs. This provides extra fast delivery in less than two weeks for order quantities as low as 25,000.

If you need less than 2 week turnarounds or have other special needs, give us a call. We are experts at designing the label management program that is best suited to our customers unique needs.

Can Walle provide labels in quantities as low as 25,000?
Walle has invested in technologies and equipment to lower the non-value added costs of press set ups to our customers. As such, we offer order quantities as low as 25,000 labels for all of our label products. This permits you to order only the number of labels that you need and avoid the cost of obsolete label inventory.
